Rare Admiralty Pattern gravy spoon £SOLD

Rare Victorian silver Admiralty Pattern gravy spoon by George Adams, London 1853. In good condition, with crisp ‘fouled anchor’ crest, and hallmarks including the broad arrow naval issue mark. 12.1 inches long; 6.43 ounces
Originally made for issue to naval officers in the first half of the 19th century, its use declined until it ceased around the beginning of the first world war, when officers were allowed to purchase pieces. Despite not being used any more by officers, it continued to be used in Dartmouth Naval College, HMS Victory and on the Royal Yacht Britannia
